Parable of Skazir

“Every time you buy a gun, you sell a part of your soul with it.”

Parable of Skazir was written in my senior year at Pepperdine University as my final project for Julie Oni’s Playwriting course. The play is set in a gun store operated by a mysterious man named Skazir. Over the course of the play, tensions build as Skazir manipulates his employees, illegally sells weapons to troubled individuals, and is increasingly tormented by an enigmatic homeless woman. Parable of Skazir explores the moral weight and responsibility that comes with buying and selling firearms, whether for hunting, self-defense, or more explicitly wicked purposes.
